Use of CSP Designation

Certification is for individuals only. CSP designation may be used only after the name of the certified individual. In this form, it may be used on letterhead, business cards, brochures, advertisements, all forms of address, etc. The CSP designation may not be used to imply that a company is certified.

Annual Renewal Fees

A $65.00 annual renewal fee will be charged to reflect the cost of:

  • Inclusion in the annual certification listing.
  • Certification program maintenance and development.
  • The cost of the current personal development program.
  • The cost of the current marketing program.

Renewal fees must be paid on an annual basis in order to stay an active Certified Snow Professional.

Maintaining Certification through Continuing Education

In addition to the annual renewal fees, Certified Snow Professionals require continuing education in order to stay abreast of developments in the industry as well as in those areas that apply to general business practices and professionalism. Continuing education will be required to maintain the CSP designation. A total of 50 credits will be necessary in each 3-year period or Certification will be revoked by the Certification Committee. Ways to meet these requirements and the credits earned are listed below:

Attending any Certification Committee approved trade show. 3 credits per event attended.
Attending any business or industry related educational function. 1 credit per each hour of instruction.

Speaking or putting on a formal educational session for others in order to educate others about business and/or the snow & ice industry.

2 credits per each hour of instruction (No more than 18 hours from this area within the 3 year period).

Proctoring a CSP exam. 1 credit per hour of proctoring. Upcoming Test Dates
Authoring and having published an industry related article. 2 credits (No more than 18 hours from this area within the 3 year period).
Mentoring new SIMA members. Up to 6 credits possible in 1 year (No more than 18 hours from this area within the 3 year period).
Attending the annual Snow and Ice Symposium. 13 credits. Symposium Information
Volunteering on SIMA Committees.

1 credit per hour of volunteering (No more than 10 hours per year). Volunteer Information

Code of Ethics

In keeping with the purpose of this Certification process, the Certification Committee has determined that all Certified Snow Professionals must adhere to a higher standard of ethics than most within the industry. To this end, all applications shall be required to agree, in writing, to adhere to these high standards or ethics when dealing with customers, employees, sub-contractors, vendors, suppliers, and competitors. Failure to adhere to these standards, or conduct in a manner inconsistent with the high standards and goals of the Certification purpose may result with the Certification Committee revoking the Certification title of the offending individual. All applicants shall be advised of this action prior to acceptance of the application for testing.
